Our approach
NovaKit is a local-first application that minimizes data collection. We use very few cookies and do not use them for advertising, tracking, or profiling.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. They can be used for various purposes including remembering preferences, authentication, and analytics.
Cookies we use
Essential cookies
- Theme preference — Stores your light/dark mode selection so NovaKit remembers your choice between visits.
- License session — If you activate a paid license, a session identifier may be stored to validate your license status. This is required for the service to function.
- Banner dismissal — Remembers whether you have dismissed the announcement banner so it does not reappear.
- Privacy acknowledgements — Remembers whether you have seen and accepted one-time privacy notices (e.g., the knowledge base embedding notice).
Cookies we do NOT use
- Advertising or marketing cookies
- Third-party tracking cookies
- Social media tracking pixels
- Cross-site tracking of any kind
- Fingerprinting or device identification beyond a random ID
Local storage
NovaKit uses your browser's local storage extensively to store conversations, settings, API keys, and knowledge base data. This data never leaves your browser and is not considered "cookies" under most regulations. You have full control over this data through Settings > Storage.
Third-party cookies
Third-party services we integrate with may set their own cookies:
- Payment partner — May set cookies during the checkout and license activation flow
- Hosting provider — May set essential performance cookies needed to serve the application
We do not control these cookies. Please refer to each service's own cookie policy for details.
Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies may prevent license validation from working correctly.
To clear all NovaKit data (including local storage), go to Settings > Storage or clear your browser's site data for novakit.ai.
